The Ant and a Grasshopper

The Ant and A Grasshopper

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Once, there lived an ant and a grasshopper in a riverside meadow. The ant worked hard to gather wheat grains from the farmer’s field during the scorching summer months.

From dawn to dusk, the ant would labor diligently to balance the heavy grain on her back and collect it. After carefully putting the wheat grain into her pantry, she would rush back to the field to get another grain. She would scurry back and forth throughout the day between the field and her food supply.

On the other hand, in the grassy meadow, there was a grasshopper who would sing and dance all the time. He would frequently mock the ant for working so hard all day to gather the grains. At any given time, he would frequently invite the ant to join him in singing, dancing, and having a good time.

The ant used to disregard him and carry on with her work. The grasshopper would often make fun of the ant by claiming they had enough food to last them through the summer, making him laugh even louder.

Upon hearing this, the ant informed the grasshopper that she was saving some food for the winter and advised it to do the same. She said nothing, and the grasshopper just kept singing and dancing happily.

Soon, summer gave way to fall and then winter. The snow fell outside, making it bitterly cold, the sun was barely visible, and the nights were long and gloomy. The grasshopper stopped singing and having fun because he was cold. He was cold and hungry and had no spot to take cover from the snow outside. He wondered how to escape this difficult circumstance.

He suddenly thought about the ant and went to see her for food and shelter. He went to her location and demanded assistance by knocking on her door. The grasshopper offered to sing for her when she opened the door in exchange for some food and shelter.

The ant responded that the grasshopper had made fun of her during the summer when she worked hard to save enough food for the winter.

She kindly requested that he could sing elsewhere to earn money for food and shelter. The grasshopper then realized that he should have saved enough money for the winter rather than wasting his summer time singing and dancing around.

Moral of The Ant and A Grasshopper Story

“While the sun shines, make hay.”

Hard work and preparation are essential for success in life. We should not waste our time and resources and should always plan for the future. It’s important to prioritize our needs over wants and to be responsible and self-sufficient.
