March 28, 2023July 16, 2023 Why Do We Celebrate Sri Rama Navami? A festival called Sri Rama Navami commemorates the birth of Lord Rama, the son of King Dasharatha. It was a glad event in Ayodhya such a long time back when Ruler Dasharatha’s beneficiary was at last conceived. The king had been greatly troubled for many years by the absence of an heir, so it was like a dream coming true. Lord Rama is an embodiment of Lord Vishnu, who took on human form in order to fight the invincible Ravana. All the Gods had been complaining to Lord Brahma about the destruction Ravana was causing on Earth. Since Ravana had received so many blessings from Lord Shiva, no god could kill him. However, Ravana had grown so overconfident that he would never have anticipated a human attack. As a result, Lord Vishnu gave his consent for Prince Rama, the son of King Dasharatha and Queen Kausalya, to appear on Earth. The epic Ramayana, which tells the story of Lord Rama, is well-known to most Indians, regardless of caste, religion, or creed. Lord Rama is a mythical figure who defeated Ravana, the demon king and was the embodiment of all that is right and true. The Hindus have elevated Lord Rama to the status of a God, making him more than just a hero. So, his birth is celebrated every year on the ninth day after the new moon in Shukla Paksha, also known as the waxing moon, which sometimes occurs in April. How Exactly Is Sri Rama Navami Observed? On this day, some people choose to fast. Such a person would eat potatoes in any form without onion, garlic, ginger, or haldi (turmeric). He can also eat any fruit and root vegetable.
