Finding God In The Little Things

There was once a young boy who had a burning desire to meet God. He believed that God lived far away, so he packed a bag with some snacks and set off on his journey. Walking down the street, he saw an older woman sitting on a park bench, watching the pigeons.

The boy sat beside her and pulled out his bag of treats. He was about to take a sip of his drink when he noticed that the woman looked hungry, so he offered her a snack. She gratefully accepted it and smiled at him warmly. The boy was so taken by her smile that he offered her a drink as well. Again, she happily accepted and continued to smile at him.

The two of them spent the afternoon sitting together, eating and smiling, but they didn’t say a word to each other.

Finally, as the sun began to set, the boy realized how tired he was and got up to leave. However, before he could take more than a few steps, he turned around and ran back to the older woman, giving her a hug. She returned the hug with a huge smile on her face.

When the boy arrived home, his mother was surprised to see the joy on his face. She asked him what had made him so happy. He told her about his meeting with God and how she had the most beautiful smile he had ever seen.

The older woman also returned home with a radiant joy on her face. Her son was amazed by the peaceful expression on her face and inquired about the source of her happiness. She told him about her time spent with God and how he was much younger than she had expected.

God is present in our lives every day and that we can feel his presence by spreading joy and making others smile.
