March 1, 2023July 16, 2023 The Bull and A Rich Man The bull and a rich man story is about a little calf of a bull born in the city and was purchased by a wealthy, high-class individual. The calves were bred well for strength. The wealthy man loved these gentle animals so much that he took good care of them and fed them only the best. Bull thought to himself, “I was brought up by this generous man” when he grew up. “He cared and loved me so much. Now that I’m a big adult bull, no other bull can pull as much weight as I can. As a result, I want to use my strength to offer something back to my Master.” Upon realizing this, he addressed his superior, “Please find some wealthy merchant who is proud to have many strong bulls. Show him how many heavily loaded bullock carts your bull can pull.” Master trusted him, so following his advice, he visited this merchant and had a conversation with him about the city’s bulls. The rich man responded, “Sir, I have a bull who can pull one hundred heavily loaded bullock carts.” Merchant said, “Many have bulls, but no one has any as strong as mine.” “How can there be such a bull!” asked Merchant. It is impossible. Merchant said, “Okay then, I will bet a thousand gold coins that your bull cannot pull a hundred loaded bullock carts.” The wealthy man replied, “I have a such bull, and I am willing to take a bet.” As a result, a wager was made, and the challenge date and time were agreed upon. To make them heavy, the merchant filled one hundred large bullock carts that were joined together and filled them with sand and gravel. A wealthy man gave his bull a bath and dressed him up for the challenge. After that, on the spot, he secured him to a cart and climbed on top of it. A high-class rich man couldn’t resist the urge to appear important. “Pull, you dumb animal,” he yelled, whipping his bull in the air. “This challenge was my idea,” Bull thought to himself. “I command you to pull.” “Although I have never harmed my Master, he still insults me.” As a result, he stayed where he was and refused to pull carts. The wager went to the merchant. He chuckled and demanded his stake in the bet, which required the rich man to pay a thousand gold coins. He returned to his house and sat down, embarrassed by the blow to his pride and saddened by the fact that his bet had been lost. Bull inquired, “Why are you sad?” after observing his Master’s sad face. The man responded, “You caused the loss of a thousand gold coins.” In addition, I was called names in front of everyone. “But you called me a dummy,” Bull said. “You even waved a whip over my head in the air. Did I ever do anything wrong, break anything, or act like a fool?” “No,” the Master replied. The bull then inquired, “Then, why did you call me a dumb animal and insult me in front of everyone?” But I’m sorry for today because I was the type to ask for a challenge. You go back to the merchant and place the same wager, this time for 2,000 gold coins. During his time, keep in mind to speak with respect. The wealthy man realized his error and bet two thousand dollars back to the merchant. The winning merchant agreed because it would be easy money. Rich man fed and bathed the bull once more at the same location and tied a garland of flowers around his neck. When everything was prepared, the carts were attached. “My son! Please do me the honor of pulling these one hundred bullock carts and showing them your strength,” the wealthy man gently patted the bull’s head this time. While the merchant was in disbelief and required to pay two thousand gold coins, bull pulled a load with all his might and dragged heavy carts to the finish line. The spectators were so impressed with the bull that they gave him gifts. Rather than gold coins received, the rich man understood through the valuable lesson that humility and respect were more important.
