November 13, 2022July 16, 2023 The Golden Egg – Story of a Poultry Man A poultry man lived in a village with his wife and two children. He had chicken, ducks, and geese in his poultry. He was earning well in the poultry farming business and was leading a happy life with his family. He was a devotee of Goddess Durga and worshipped her daily. One day, the poultry man came across a rich person who was leading a great life than him. He wanted to grow rich as he was not satisfied with his current situation. He has worshipped Goddess Durga for the same. After a few days, Goddess Durga appeared in front of him and gave him a boon. The poultry man got a special duck that will not be there anywhere in the universe. The speciality is that the duck lays one golden egg every day. Now, the poultry man was happy for the same. He started earning well by selling golden eggs laid by the duck. The poultry man was now having a big house with all facilities. But, he was not satisfied and became greedy. He wanted to grow more by selling all golden eggs at once. One day, he thought hard and clicked upon a plan. He took a knife with him when he went to the duck to take the golden egg. This time, he killed the duck with the knife and cut its body open, thinking he would get all the golden eggs at once instead of taking them daily. But, there was nothing and no trace of the egg except the blood. He was highly grieved because now he would not get even a single egg. His life became miserable now as he could not get at least one golden egg after this incident. The outcome of his greed was that he started becoming poorer & poorer day by day and ultimately became a pauper. The poultry man lost everything with his greed & foolishness.
