April 12, 2023July 16, 2023 The Grass and Bamboo Story: A Tale of Perseverance and Hope The Grass and Bamboo Story is about a businessman who lost all hope when his company failed. He got angry with life, and one day he went to the forest alone and sat there for a while. The businessman sat in the forest for a long time and gave God a long thought before praying, “Tell me one reason why I should not despair. I lost everything.” “What do I want to do with my life? For what reason would it be advisable for me to live?” He then heard God’s voice saying, “I took very good care of both of them when I first planted grass and bamboo seeds.” “Soon, grass began to grow, turning the land green, while bamboo seeds remained unchanged. Nevertheless, I continued to care for bamboo.” “The grass increased in density and grew more in the second year, but the bamboo seed remained unchanged.” “Despite the fact that the bamboo trees’ seeds did not sprout in the third year, I did not give up hope and continued to water and care for them. There was no growth even in the fourth year.” “A small plant developed from the bamboo seed five years later. Compared to grass, this plant was tiny, but it grew 20 feet tall in just six months. The sprouting of bamboo seeds took five years. Its root grew to such strength over the course of these five years that it could support bamboo that was more than 20 feet in length.” “Always keep in mind that when things get tough in life, know that your roots are getting stronger. Your struggle is strengthening you so that tomorrow can be the best it can be.” “I persevered with bamboo. I won’t abandon you, so you shouldn’t abandon yourself.” “Both grass and bamboo have distinct growth periods and functions. Your time will arrive similarly.” “Your struggles will bolster your success, so don’t be afraid to face them. Don’t give up! Your good time will come, even if not today.” “Keep going.” Moral of The Grass and Bamboo Story: A Tale of Perseverance and Hope Story Success and growth take time and perseverance. Just like how bamboo took five years to sprout but eventually grew to be strong and tall, our struggles and challenges in life are necessary for our growth and eventual success. We should not give up on ourselves or lose hope, even in the face of difficulties. Instead, we should continue to water our roots and work towards our goals with patience and perseverance, knowing that our time for growth and success will eventually come.
