A Leader’s Determination – The Tale of Tradesmen

There was once a group of tradesmen. To sell their products, they move from place to place.

While they were traveling, they encountered a scorching desert one day. The leader of the tradesmen checked on people in the area.

He learned that the fine sand is so heated by the sun during the day that no one walks on it, not even the camels. Additionally, crossing the desert takes close to three nights.

After hearing this, the leader decided to travel at night when the sand was cooler and to camp during the day.

The leader hired a local guide to help them cross the desert considering the nighttime travel. They began their journey in the desert with the assistance of the guide.

All of the merchants followed the guide as he moved ahead. All of them were making their way along in camel-drawn caravans. They completed 3/4 of the desert within a few nights.

They resumed their journey on the third night.

Since this would be the last night of the trip, the guide began to unwind and eventually fell asleep after some time had passed.

His camel then started moving to the side, and the other camels behind it did the same. All the camels went in a big circle until they reached their starting point last night.

The tradesmen noticed they were back where they had camped last night when the sun rose. They worried they wouldn’t be able to cross the desert because they only had very little water.

They began blaming the leader and guide, asking, “How do you survive in this hot desert without water?”

“We are in a difficult situation, and if I lose courage now, lives will be lost,” the leader thought to himself.

As a result, he began looking around the area and discovered a lot of grass. He was confident that the grass would struggle to survive without water beneath it.

He then instructed them to dig this grassy area because there might be water there.

Everyone agreed, so they started digging. Soon, they found a big rock that was hard to break.

When everyone saw the rock, they lost hope and began blaming the leader, saying, “We wasted our time and energy.”

“No, my friends,” the leader declared. It doesn’t go to waste. We will lose everything if we give up now. Therefore, we ought to continue our work.

After that, he placed his ear on the massive rock and heard the sound of water running.

Upon hearing the sound, he called the strongest of them and said, “If you give up, we will all perish.” Therefore, give it all you’ve got to break this rock.

The powerful individual hefted the hammer and slammed the rock hard. The rock soon split open, and water began to pour out of it.

After that, every tradesman was ecstatic and filled all their water pouches. The relieved leader and the guide carried on with the journey.
