December 5, 2022July 16, 2023 The Boy’s Weakness Story There was a 10-year-old boy who was interested in Judo. Unfortunately, the boy had a devastating car accident and lost his left arm. After recovering, he decided to learn Judo despite losing his left arm. The boy went to an old Japanese judo master and started with his classes. He was doing well. After three months of training, the master taught him only one move. In a confused state, the boy asked the trainer, “Shouldn’t I be learning more moves?” The trainer replied, “This is the only move you know, but this is the only move you’ll ever need to know.” Though the boy was unclear with the words, he kept training, having belief in his trainer. After several months, he took his first tournament. To his astonishment, he won his first two matches easily, while the third one seemed more complicated. However, after some time, his opponent became impatient and charged. The boy used his one move and won the match. He was surprised by his success and was now in the finals. The boy’s opponent was stronger, bigger, and more experienced this time. The boy appeared to be overmatched for a while. The referee called a time-out with the concern that that boy might get hurt. He was about to stop the match, but the trainer intervened to continue. The match resumed soon, and the opponent made a major mistake by dropping his guard. The boy used his move to pin the opponent instantly and won the game and the tournament. He was a champion! While returning home, the boy and the trainer reviewed each move in every match. The boy gathered his courage to ask his trainer about a thing on his mind. He questioned, “How did I win the tournament with only a single move?” The trainer answered, “You won for two reasons. First, you have almost mastered one of Judo’s most difficult throws. And second, the only known defense for that move is for your opponent to grab your left arm.” Hearing that, the boy realized that his biggest weakness had become his biggest strength.
