January 12, 2023July 16, 2023 The Evidence of God: The Transformation of Vivekananda Swami Vivekananda was one of the most well-known and popular Hindu monks. He was also known as a renowned spiritual leader of India. The original name of Swami Vivekananda was Narendranath Datta. Swami Vivekananda was born on 12th January 1863. Vivekananda was truly logical at 19 years of age. He was an intellectual boy, full of bents. He was a boy who wanted proper answers for everything he asked. One day, he went to Ramakrishna and asked, “You’re talking about God, and You can talk to God all the time! Why should I believe that you talk to God every day? Can you show me any valid evidence?” Ramakrishna was a simple, innocent man. He wasn’t educated enough. He wasn’t a scholar. But, an oracle indeed. So he responded to Vivekananda, “I, Myself, the evidence.” Vivekananda kept silent and didn’t understand what to reply to him because, for him, this was so crazy. It did not have any meaning. He had been awaiting a definitive, intellectually valid explanation of his question: “The seed sprouting and the planet spinning around is the proof that God exists.” But rather than this type of answer, Ramakrishna said, “I’m the evidence that God exists.” Ramakrishna again stood up and said, “The way I am, which you can see, is the evidence that God exists.” Vivekananda got confused and hugely disappointed, and he left the place without uttering any more words. Three days passed. Narendranath returned to Ramakrishna and asked, “Can you show me, God? Ramakrishna. In return, Ramakrishna asked, “Do you have the courage to see God in front of you?” The courageous boy, Narendranath, answered, “Yes, I have. This question was agonizing me for days.” Then, Ramakrishna suddenly just placed his foot on Vivekananda’s chest. Within seconds, Vivekananda went into a certain time of samadhi, and he went beyond the limitations of his mind. Nearly 12 hours passed, but he didn’t come out of it. When he eventually came to his senses, he was never the same boy again. He was a new boy who never asked another question in his life after the incident.
