The Rabbit and His Friends

The Rabbit and His Friends

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

The animals of Sundarvan stepped outside in relief when the skies cleared after two days of continuous rain. Coco, the rabbit, exclaimed as he went out, “All this rain has flooded the entire forest!” Miko, the mouse, his neighbour, said, “You should just be thankful that the forest did not flood and that we did not get washed away.” However, Miko continued, this section of the forest is lower than the rest and easily floods. I believe we should cross the river and move to higher ground on the other side before the next rainstorm arrives.

“Mojo, the monkey, said, “I’m afraid this plan of yours will never work.” The forest animals quickly turned to him for clarification. The bridge broke when I got off it last night when it rained. In fact, it is in poor condition. We wouldn’t be able to get it fixed in time. Additionally, I feel that this side of the forest will undoubtedly flood.

“A few days ago, I heard that all the larger animals had moved to the other side. Isn’t that perfect?” Coco asked. “The larger animals have left us and safely crossed the river, whereas the smaller animals will be most affected by the rains. They’ve done the right thing, in my opinion.”

Mojo commented, “They must have decided to play it safe and relocate to higher ground just in case.” That’s fine, Mojo, but what are our next steps? Coco inquired. “The only thing we can do now is to pray that it doesn’t rain anymore,” Mojo stated.

Piko, the butterfly, chimed in at that point and said, “That will just be wishful thinking.” I just heard people talking, and it seems like there will be more rain in a few hours. What are our next steps?

Miko said, “Bridge or no bridge, let’s go to the river regardless.” Coco added, “Maybe there’s another way across the river.” All the animals made their way to the river, but when they got to the riverbank, things were worse than they had anticipated.

“There is water everywhere!” Miko remarked. Also, I can’t see how to cross the river. You are correct; I, too, see nothing.

Coco said, slightly irritated, “All I see are these turtles really enjoying themselves.” Why, then, wouldn’t they? After all, they are aquatic creatures.” Mojo said “we could try crossing from where the river is shallowest by asking them.” Do you believe that they will aid us?” enquired Miko. Coco approached the turtles and said, “It’s at least worth a shot.”

However, Kittu, the turtle leader, reacted to Coco’s request for assistance by asking, “What made you think we’d want to help you?” Do you not recall what you did when we asked you if you would like to be friends with us?

Since it has been a while, let me remind you that you made fun of us and drove us away. Shamefully, Coco, Miko, Mojo, and Piko hung their heads. When Kittu turned to the other turtles, they turned to go back to their homes and find another way.

“My friends, we are not so rude and cannot be so rude as to return someone who has come to us for help,” Kittu said. “Coco and his companions require our assistance to cross the river. Let’s assist them.”

“They made fun of us, Kittu. Is it really necessary?” a turtle questioned.

Kittu stated, “They brushed it off when we offered them our friendship, which was their error. Because their lives are in jeopardy, these animals have come to us for assistance. It will be the biggest mistake of our lives if we don’t help them now.”

All of the turtles were persuaded, and they agreed to assist.

Kittu stated, “I have a plan, but the water is too deep for you to walk across.” From one side of the river to the other, he instructed the turtles to form a straight line, one in front of the other. The only thing standing between the water and the bridge was their shells. To be safe, Coco, Miko, Mojo, and Piko hopped across to the other side.

“Kittu, you have saved our lives. We are extremely appreciative and will never forget this,” Coco declared. Kittu and the turtles were pleased that they were all friends now.

Moral of The Rabbit and His Friends Story

We should always learn lessons from our mistakes. Treat others with kindness and respect, even if they have wronged you in the past.

The ability to admit and learn from our mistakes is an important quality to have. One should always strive to be a better person and do what is right, even in difficult situations.
