February 6, 2023July 16, 2023 The Witty Crab: A Tale of Survival Once upon a time, a stork used to eat fish from the pond right next to him. However, as he got older, it became harder and harder for him to catch even one fish. He devised a plan to provide for himself. He explained to the fish, frogs, and crabs that there wouldn’t be any fish in the pond because some men were planning to grow crops to fill it up. Additionally, the stork conveyed his sadness and expressed how much he would miss them all. The fish asked the stork for help because they were sad. The stork said he would take them all to a bigger pond. Nevertheless, he informed them, “As I am old, I can only take a few of you at once.” The stork would take the fish to a rock, kill, and eat them. He would take a few of them to the rock whenever he was hungry and eat them there. A crab in the smaller pond also desired to travel to the larger one. For a change, the stork decided to assist the crab and considered eating it. The crab approached the stork, who asked, “Where is the big pond?” The stork chuckled and pointed to the fish bones on the rock. The crab quickly thought of a way to save himself when he realized the stork would kill him. He did not let go of the stork’s neck until it had passed away.
