A Blessing In Disguise

There was a wealthy king who was known for making people angry. With an intention to show that difficulties in life can sometimes be a blessing in disguise if approached with a positive attitude, the King threw a boulder in the middle of the road one day. He was aware that it would put people in harm’s way, causing his men to become disoriented and enraged. However, he instructed his employees to place it there deliberately.

The first group of people who came into contact with it was completely irritated. “Hasn’t he got better things to do with his life than annoy people?” these individuals would say.

They didn’t pay any attention to the boulder in the middle of the road because they thought it was just a show of attention. The King’s constant ploy to attract attention irritated a few more groups, so they walked around it and never looked back. The remainder, on the other hand, displayed apathy and continued on their way.

People’s reactions to seeing a boulder in the middle of the road didn’t change over the years. This boulder was not noticed until an innocent peasant carrying loads of vegetables stopped. He tried to move it to the side of the road rather than walking past it. He planned to put it where it wouldn’t get in the way of other people.

He had a hard time moving it because it was a heavy boulder. Before continuing his journey, sitting down and resting also required a lot of his energy.

However, while he was taking a break, something shiny caught his eye. It was beneath the original location of the boulder.

He was interested. Therefore, he considered approaching it, but before proceeding further, he questioned whether it posed any danger. He gained courage and approached it after considering it for some time.

After that, he realized it was a gold purse. A note from the King was inside when he opened it: “I’m so happy for you! Congratulations! Read this note and go to my kingdom. You will receive your reward in the form of a gold pot.”

The shocked peasant went to the King. “Maharaj, I don’t need this,” he declared. “I will have this, and I give it to your kingdom.” But the King said, “My dear, I kept this pot. This reward is a result of your upbeat outlook on life. Do accept this reward.”

The King wanted to show that not all obstacles are pointless. If a person puts in the time and effort to overcome them, they will soon realize that they can also be a blessing in disguise.
