February 21, 2023July 16, 2023 The Fox and The Drum Meeka, the fox, lived in a big forest. Other animals remained in herds or with their families. However, Meeka favored being alone. She had no apprehensions whatsoever. Actually, she was terrified of a lot of things. After all, the forest was very big. Meeka would come across a stream, lake, hill, or clearing she had never seen before every other week. She also went off to explore a new area of the forest today. “Dooom!” Somewhere, a loud sound reverberated. Sensing danger, Meeka’s neck furs raised. She had never heard anything like it in the forest: lion roars, bear bellows, cricket cries, and cheetah and cricket droning. What, then? Never. She was about to walk on when she almost thought she had made up the sound. “Dooooom!” It sounded even louder than before. Meeka desired to flee. She also had a lot of hunger. She hadn’t found anything to eat for two days. Additionally, she may find food thanks to this animal. She carefully listened once more as she hid behind a bush. Doooom!” The sound came. Meeka noticed that it was coming from the right this time. She listened to the sound from a low crouch. Each time the sound was heard, Meeka would develop nearer. She felt scared. She finally saw the animal making the noise there. It was massive, oblong, and propped up against a tree. It lacked feet. Meeka would have guessed that this was an object rather than an animal. However, when the tree’s swaying branches struck the object, it screamed, “Dooooom!!!” Meeka was certain that this animal was amazing. She approached it carefully. The animal remained motionless. Meeka gained self-assurance after a few steps. She kissed herself. Look at how loudly this animal screams and can’t move. It must be laden with food! She pondered. She lunged at the massive animal after standing directly in front of it. The conflict was brief. Meeka cut a hole in the skin with her claws. Meeka assumed the animal was dead after it stopped making the sound. She looked into the hole that she had dug. Nothing was there! The animal had no stomach. There were no meals available. Nonetheless, Meeka was victorious. Finally, she had defeated a formidable foe. “Ha!” She yelled at the strange animal’s decomposing body. All of this was being observed by a parrot from a tree, who laughed loudly. Meeka stopped abruptly and looked up, asking, “Master Parrot, why are you laughing?” “The animal that you have killed is referred to as a drum! It is beaten by humans to make loud noises. You may not be aware, but this location was the scene of a significant conflict many years ago. The soldiers left that behind. And you were looking for food because you thought you had killed it,” the parrot added. Meeka first glanced at the broken drum before turning to the parrot. She also got into a loud chuckle. The parrot was befuddled, “For what reason would you say you are snickering youthful fox?” “Well, I gained some valuable knowledge. It’s not always full of stuff to make a loud sound! So from now on, I’m going to be less afraid of the forest,” claiming that Meeka, the fox, veered off in search of food.
