March 19, 2023September 2, 2023 The Turtle and A Young Man “The Turtle and A Young Man” is a story of a young fellow strolling along an ocean side for a while in the past. He saw a circle of kids gathered around him. He went over to inquire about their activities. “We have found a big turtle! Look!” One of the young people said. The turtle was being hit with rocks and sticks by the other kids. “Go somewhere else and do something!” The young man spoke vehemently. All of the children fled. The turtle complimented the young man, “You are very kind. I’d like to invite you to my private castle. I’ll take you there if you climb on my back and climb on.” The turtle swam into the ocean after the young man climbed on its back. The man was then taken to the turtle’s underwater fortress by diving under the water. A huge feast was brought out by servants when the turtle called for food. The young man had never experienced food as delectable. The turtle said, “I am going to give you two boxes,” when it was time for the young man to return to land. “You must swear to only open one.” The young man replied, “I promise I will open only one. And I promise not to be greedy to open both later.” He opened the largest box once he returned to land. It had a lot of gold, he discovered. “I am wealthy!” The young man said, and he was overjoyed. The young man then took a look at the other box. He added, “It must also be full of money.” He realized he shouldn’t, as he had made a promise. But he became greedy, and yet he opened the container in any case. Suddenly, his entire head of hair went white right away. Wrinkles covered most of his face. He would always have the appearance of a very old man. Moral of The Turtle And A Young Man Story Don’t make promises if you can’t keep them.
